Warm knits, mulled wine, the taste of candy apples, the winter atmosphere are good reasons to love winter however dry skin,
frizzy hair and runny nose is something that i never could live with.Down below i wrote a few tips on how I fight through the winter with dry skin and hair.
I know there is tones of tips out there but here is what it works for me.
INVEST IN YOUR SKIN AND HAIR.
IT IS GOING TO REPRESENT YOU FOR A VERY LONG TIME
I believe that dry skin is not due the cold it’s from the dryness in the air.
What makes things worse is the change of the temperature confuses the skin, which forces it to react with dryness, flushing etc.
Keep your home warm but not hot, lower the temperature at bedtime to lower body temperature during nocturnal hours.
Try avoiding washing your face in the morning opt for a gentle toner instead, this will prep your skin for moisturising which is a must. Also you can add a drop of face oil in your foundation this will add extra hydration.
Choose wisely when it comes for the bedtime routine of removing your makeup.
I use Oil infused Micellar Cleansing Water from Garnier.Don’t forget about the lips if they tend to chap.I am using Mango&Papaya lip balm from I Love Cosmetics.
The night time is the time when i increase the moisture of my skin by applying Caudalie face mask and anti wrinkle cream and after I’m removing the face mask i am applying a mix of coconut oil and almond oil.
Lifeless, frizzy, dull hair.Solution is the hair oil.To treat the dry and fragile hair, hot oil benefits a lot. You can take any of the oils like jojoba oil, almond oil, olive oil or readily available coconut oil.Apply this lukewarm oil with the help of finger tips to scalp and entire hair.Massage the oil for five to ten minutes and wrap a hot towel.Leave it for an hour or two and then rinse off using a mild shampoo.I know coconut oil is a good healer but I choose the olive oil and almond oil after i experimented that the coconut oil didn’t helped my hair as much as it need it and i recommend this Shea Moisture hair mask for frizzy, split and breaking hair.I do believe this natural oils are better than all those products that your hairdresser is trying to sell you 🙂
